ABOUT US

Richmond Caledonian Society was founded in 1937 to act as a focal point for the many Scots moving into the Richmond Area. The Society now meets on Wednesday evenings at the Oddfellows’ Hall, Parkshot, Richmond from 8pm to 10pm. to enjoy Scottish Country Dancing.

Scottish Country Dancing is fun. We meet to enjoy ourselves, have some exercise and make friends. The programme for the 2009/2010 is on the website together with a crib for each dance; although we are able and prepared to walk through any dances, if members and friends read the cribs each week, the dances will become more familiar!

Our main social event is our Burns’ Supper and Dance when the haggis is piped in and addressed and we enjoy a sit down meal; this is followed by dancing to a live band and there will be dances specially chosen for those of our guests who are non dancers but who would like to join in. (These dances are always walked through). There are also dances for those who are more proficient! Next year the Burns’ Supper will be on Saturday 16th January in St Mary’s Church Hall, Langham Road, Teddington. Last year was a sell out!

The Demonstration Team from the London Branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society will be visiting us on 17th March 2010. This is an opportunity for us all to appreciate how Scottish Country Dances should be danced – on this evening we have a buffet supper.

We are very pleased to welcome anyone who would like to join us whether they are dancers or non dancers – come and have a fun evening.
